Spiritual Guides and How to Connect with Them

Many people think that our spirit guides are allocated to us before we are born or pick them.

Some view Spirit guides as facets of our subconscious brains that aid us in metaphorically achieving the fullness of being.

On the other hand, others think that spirit guides are manifestations of our higher selves, which can take numerous forms.

There is no denying that we all require guidance, direction, and life support that goes beyond our talents or those around us, regardless of how “new age” or “down-to-earth” you think spirit guides are.

What are Spirit Guides?

Our spirit guides are global powers who have come to assist us. An angel, animal, legendary creature, ancestor, ancient god or goddess, otherworldly, or interdimensional being can all be spirit guides.

At its most basic, a spirit guide is a type of energy that manifests itself in various forms. Spirit guides are archetypal energies; aspects of life teach, warn, support, soothe, remember, and disclose truths about ourselves that we need to learn to grow.

Our spirit guides are divided into two categories: significant guides and minor guides. Central guides usually accompany us throughout our lives and assist us in learning essential life lessons.

Minor guides are temporary and assist with day-to-day worries or issues that we face. We have several spirit guides. Some are born with us, while others come and go during our lives.

Spirit guides are spiritual beings who inhabit higher planes of reality.

Types of Spirit Guides

Half-Man Half-Beast Spirit Guides

Examples include:

  • Minotaurs
  • Fairies
  • Mermaids
  • Harpys
  • Sphinxes
  • Fauns
  • Centaurs

Many deities also appear as spirit guides, for instance:

  • Anubis (jackal-headed Egyptian god)
  • Ganesha (elephant-headed Indian god)
  • Ra (falcon head, human body)

Ancestors

Ancestral guides are entities with a blood connection to us and our lineage. An ancestral guide could be a recently departed member of your family (grandfather, father, mother, sibling) or a long-dead relative whom you may have never met.

Plants

Shamans believe that the world is made up of live, dynamic energy. An Example of a ceremonial plant is:

Ayahuasca, a hallucinogenic beverage derived from a vine native to Peru, is one of the most well-known communing with nature’s spirits. The Banisteriopsis Caapi (Ayahuasca) vine is known as “the vine of the souls,” All who take it report feeling guided by the plant into the realms of inner and outward life.

The same can be stated for a variety of other psychoactive substances (and non-psychoactive plants). Plants can be symbolic, such as in pagan traditions that link certain traits with specific plants, or experiential, such as when swallowing the plant stimulates mental, bodily, and emotional expansion.

Gods and Goddesses

Since the beginning of time, gods and goddesses have been revered, feared, and written about. They are found in every culture, tradition, religion, and region of the world. Examples:

  • Apollo
  • Quan Yin
  • Athena
  • Lugh
  • Lakshmi
  • Hathor
  • Kali
  • Selene
  • The Green Man
  • Horus

Ascended Masters

Ascended Masters are beings who have already lived on Earth, had a spiritual awakening, and have become enlightened, awakened, or transcended the cycle of rebirth. As a result, ascended masters are the ultimate teachers and portals to the divine.

Ascended masters, like other spirit guides, are claimed to teach anybody who calls on them (not just you) how to reach greater completeness and harmony in life. Examples of some are:

  • Jesus
  • Krishna
  • Kuthumi
  • Confucious
  • Melchizedek
  • Babaji
  • Mary the mother of Jesus
  • Gautama Buddha

These were formerly regular individuals who went through a sequence of spiritual evolutionary transformations to achieve what is known as “enlightenment.” They eventually concluded their duty on Earth by suffering countless physical lives of struggle and decided to guide individuals seeking enlightenment and spiritual awakening.

How to Connect With Spiritual Guides

To be able to connect with a spirit guide, try the following:

  • Invite your spirit guides in and stay open to their guidance
  • Set a clear intention
  • Listen to your guides
  • Ask for a sign, blessing, or message
  • Give thanks and trust in yourself

Different Methods to Connect With Spiritual Guides

Scrying

Scrying is an old divinatory practice that involves gazing into a reflective surface, such as mirrors, crystal balls, or water, to receive esoteric information. From a psychological standpoint, scrying allows you to connect with your unconscious mind and the crucial guidance that may be hidden within it.

Dream Work

Set the intention to see, meet, or communicate with your spirit guide in your dreams just before going to bed. Continue doing dreamwork for several weeks and see what happens. When you wake up, take note of any bizarre figures or patterns that appear in your dream. The idea is to uncover patterns of recurring messages or dream entities.

Silence Your Mind

One of the most effective ways to communicate with your spirit guides is to quiet your mind through activities such as meditation or mindfulness exercises.

Bibliomancy

Bibliomancy is the technique of obtaining spiritual understanding by opening a book. This type of divination was popular in the Middle Ages.

Visualization

Visualization is an easy technique to communicate with your spirit guides. There are other spirit guide visualizations available on the internet that you might test out. You may even make your visualization by listening to relaxing music and imagining yourself traveling down a dark stairwell into a white room. Always remember to set an intention for your visualization. In this scenario, it would be something like, “I want to connect with my spirit guide,” or anything along those lines.

Plant Medicine Journey

Okay, a word of caution. This is not a gentle approach – and it is not for the faint of heart. If you are serious about communicating with your guides, I highly recommend shamanic traveling with experienced healers or shamans using plant medicines such as psilocybin mushrooms, ayahuasca, and mescaline. In the correct ceremonial environment, even marijuana can open a portal to the ‘other side.’

Trance

In a semi-conscious condition, a mental state, your mind is open and receptive when you are in a trance. It is no longer filtered through the conventional filters of conscious waking experience. As a result, this mood is ideal for communicating with your spirit guides. Trance was employed by many ancient cultures to ‘connect with the gods.’ Self-hypnosis, relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, pendulum watching, drumming, visualization, and dancing are all methods for entering a trance.

Nature Immersion

Nature is sublimely magical when you take the time and pay attention. It’s also a lovely area to connect with your spirit guides (particularly trans-species beings and animal spirits).

Look For Synchronicity

Meaningful coincidence is another term for synchronicity. Have you ever seen recurring numbers (such as 1111, 1212, 3333), symbols, or names in your life? Pay close attention. These are frequently used to convey vital messages. Set an intention to contact your spirit guides via the synchronicity technique.

Primary Goals and Purposes of Spiritual Guides

Your spirit guides‘ primary job is to direct you in the direction of your actual journey and your soul’s purpose for this life. They can accomplish this in the following ways:

  • Getting to know you and guiding you through your dreams.
  • Begin your meditation with the intention of uplifting and filling your inner space with light.
  • Giving you intuitive cues about your future steps.
  • I’m sending you healing frequencies of love and light.
  • It is connecting you with the correct books, tools, and even money to help you grow in the direction of your soul and achieve your life goals.
  • It is aligning you with the appropriate people at the right time to support your purpose and objective.
  • When you’re on the right track, you’ll often observe indications that tell you you’re on the right way.
    • You may have a recurring thought, a gut feeling, or a flash of insight.
    • Spirit Guides enjoy using synchronicity to bring blessings, opportunities, and “chance meets” into your life.
    • Spirit guides may “steer” you in the physical by sending you inspiration or urging you in the proper direction.
    • Providing comfort and support through difficult times or when you are feeling lost.
    • They provide significant support in living a more full, joyous, and inspired life authentic to your soul journey and purpose.
  • You may have felt their presence as an inner understanding.

Final Thoughts

Spirit Guides come in many shapes and sizes, much like humans. As a result, you’ll probably have a variety of guides throughout your life.

It’s comforting knowing that help is always accessible in many shapes and forms, whether you want to connect with your guides through meditation, singing, trance, psychedelic traveling, ritual, or just simple observation. The value of connecting with your spirit guide cannot be overstated. Know that they are always available to provide you with guidance, support, and healing when you need it.
